William Campanaro, 29, was arrested for the TD Bank robbery in Sayville on November 17, 2016.

Update - December 12, 2016 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a homeless man for robbing a Sayville bank last month. William Campanaro, 29, was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree for robbing TD Bank, located at 188 North Main St., on November 17. Campanaro will be arraigned on December 13 at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Sayville, NY - November 17, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Sayville bank today.

A man entered TD Bank, located at 188 North Main St., at approximately 4:20 p.m. and passed the teller a note that demanded money. The teller complied with the man’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer. The suspect fled the bank on foot and was last seen heading east on Main Street.

The man was described as white, between 25 and 30-years-old, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. He had a mustache and beard and was wearing a gray jacket with dark sleeves and a gray knit cap.
