Huntington Station Violent Crimes Task Force Arrests Narcotics Dealers

The latest arrests took place this morning as a result of an extensive investigation and execution of a narcotics search warrant.

Huntington Station, NY - December 12, 2014 - The Huntington Station Violent Crimes Task Force was formed in July 2014 as part of a proactive overall strategy to reduce crime in Huntington Station. Since its formation the task force has made a total of 496 arrests and issued a total of 3,375 summonses in the Huntington Station area. Of those arrested, 59 were gang members.

The latest arrests took place this morning as a result of an extensive investigation and execution of a narcotics search warrant. In response to neighborhood complaints of drug dealing, Narcotics Section detectives, Second Precinct detectives and other Second Precinct personnel conducted the narcotics investigation. The investigation culminated with the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a residence on Lowndes Avenue in Huntington Station. Two men at the residence were arrested after being found with two loaded handguns, two loaded rifles, a loaded shotgun and approximately 5 ounces of cocaine. In addition to the weapons, $4000 in cash was seized.

Kareem Walters, 32, of Huntington Station, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.

Samuel Spells, 32, of Huntington Station, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree.

Walters and Spells, who are known gang members and are both on New York State Parole, will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned on December 12 at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
