The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to midnight EST Monday night. * Winds...northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...tonight, through Monday and into Monday evening. * Impacts...strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Use extra caution. , "Special Statement" ...Very slippery conditions through tonight... temperatures will plummet through tonight well below freezing. As these temperatures fall, plenty of residual moisture and leftover standing water on area roads will freeze, or remain frozen. This will lead to areas of black ice. Plainview, NY - December 11, 2018 - Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) helped revelers of all ages celebrate the third night of Hanukkah during a menorah-lighting celebration at the Mid-Island Y JCC in Plainview on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
 
In addition to the candle-lighting ceremony, the Mid-Island Y JCC provided snacks, including traditional dishes like potato latkes with apple sauce and Hanukkah cookies, and the children were enthralled playing dreidel games. There were also musical performances and holiday crafts.
 
“All year long, Rick Lewis and his outstanding team at the Mid Island Y JCC provide wonderful opportunities for the community to gather and celebrate, and this delightful Hanukkah celebration was no exception,” Legislator Drucker said. “It is always a pleasure to be at the Y JCC, especially when it is filled with so much joy and love this time of year.”
