Hicksville, NY - December 10, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano presented a Citation to Maria Felix of BAE Systems for the company’s generous sponsorship of the Annual Nassau County Active Military Families Holiday Party held at The Cantiague Park Ice Rink. For the past 13 years, Nassau County has hosted this event to support the families of active duty military that live in base housing on Long Island. Event sponsors include BAE, North Shore LIJ Office of Military and Veterans Liaison Service, TD Bank, East Meadow Kiwanis, Igloo 2024 Lacrosse-Syosset, Balfour Beatty Communities and Homes for Heroes. The John Theissen Children’s Foundation and Toys for Tots donated toys that were distributed to the children.
“Each year during the holiday season we stop and give thanks for the many blessings that surround us. Nassau County government also pauses to thank and recognize the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families for the many sacrifices they make so that we as Americans can enjoy the freedoms our nation holds dear. This day in the park is just one way of showing our appreciation and giving back to the military families that give so much for our freedom and democracy,” remarked County Executive Mangano.
