Man Wanted for Attempting to Shoplift from Centereach Walmart

Centereach, NY - December 9th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a man who attempted to steal merchandise from a Centereach store last month.

A man walked into the Walmart, located at 161 Centereach Mall, Centereach, on November 25, 2014 and placed video game equipment and a cosmetics gift box into a shopping bag. When the man attempted to exit the store without paying for the merchandise, a security guard grabbed the bag from him, but the suspect got away and fled in a gray or silver minivan with Pennsylvania license plates.

The suspect is described as an 18- to 25-year-old black male, six feet tall, with a heavy build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and light-colored cargo pants.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
