PSEG Long Island’s Energy Efficiency Gift Guide

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  08. December 2016

Uniondale, NY - December 8, 2016 - With the holidays right around the corner, PSEG Long Island is reminding customers to save on gifts that also bring savings. When purchasing the perfect decoration for your holiday display, the latest electronic gadget that is on everyone’s wish list or the new appliance you need to make the perfect holiday meal, there is an ENERGY STAR® certified option out there.

“Every customer has the ability to choose an ENERGY STAR product during the holiday season and throughout the year,” said Michael Voltz, Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewables, PSEG Long Island. “Through the energy savings they provide and available rebates from PSEG Long Island, ENERGY STAR certified products are the gifts that keep on giving, even after the holidays are over.”

Many of the household items that customers use on a daily basis have ENERGY STAR options available. For those that want to sit back and watch television, an ENERGY STAR certified TV is more than 25% more energy efficient than standard models. For the best sound experience, sound bars are a must have item and ENERGY STAR certified options use about 60% less energy than non-certified models. When decorating for the holidays, selecting an ENERGY STAR certified string of lights helps cut costs and protects our environment, but it also uses 75% percent less energy than an incandescent string and lasts 10 times longer.

The gifts don’t stop once the shopping trip is over. Along with the energy savings that ENERGY STAR certified products provide, PSEG Long Island offers rebates on purchases of select ENERGY STAR products. The utility offers in-store savings on LED and CFL light bulbs as well as mail-in rebates ranging from $25-350 on ENERGY STAR certified products.

After the holidays are over and the new gifts are finding their place in the home, PSEG Long Island can help clear out some space. Customers have the option of working with the utility to recycle their old refrigerator or freezer at no cost. PSEG Long Island will pick up the old, working appliance, recycle it responsibly and provide customers with a $50 reward for continuing to be efficient with their appliances.
