Smith Point, NY - December 5, 2018 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone officially kicked-off the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s 2018 - 2019 Holidays Light Show.

The County Executive was joined by Shirley resident and 2018 Girl Scout Cookie Selling Champion, Olivia Phillips, for a ceremonial “turning on of the lights” at Smith Point County Park. Along with representatives from the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and the Suffolk County Parks Department, the County Executive and Olivia illuminated the holiday spectacular before a line of excited spectators waiting to enjoy the show on opening night. Olivia Phillips is in sixth grade and is a member of Girl Scout Troop 12 here in Suffolk County.

Proceeds from the event support Suffolk County Girl Scout programs such as summer camp for children in need and outreach services. This is the third year that Suffolk County has hosted the annual event at Smith Point County Park. For the first time, this year’s event includes a Holiday Village portion that features a live Santa Claus, a photographer, snacks, refreshments and more.
