Centereach, NY - December 5, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives have arrested two women who stole pocketbooks and wallets from vehicles parked outside gyms in Centereach and Bay Shore.

Alexandra Salata and Christina Nicosia went to Planet Fitness, located on Middle Country Road in Centereach and Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore, several times between November 13 and December 1 and stole pocketbooks and wallets from vehicles. During the incidents, one of the women entered a gym locker room and stole car keys from unlocked lockers or coats. While inside, the woman walked toward the front of the gym and pushed the key fob as the woman outside located the vehicle. The person outside stole items from the vehicle and the woman inside returned the keys. The women used credit cards stolen from the vehicles to make purchases at various locations.

Following an investigation, Sixth Squad detectives arrested Alexandra Salata, 27, of Lake Shore Drive, Ronkonkoma, and Christina Nicosia, 26, of Picket Lane, Centereach, on December 4.  Salata and Nicosia were each charged with five counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree. They were scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
