Ella’s Opens in Huntington

Written by Lon Cohen  |  15. December 2020

Another creation from the Old Field group of restaurants, Ella’s in Huntington opened this fall in the space that used to be occupied by Swallow restaurant and bar. The menu boasts of artisan wood fired pizzas and Basque Country inspired fare - described as meats and fish grilled over hot coals and stews. Ella’s comes from a pop-up restaurant concept that - much like food trucks - sometimes results in a brick-and-mortar location if the idea catches fire.

On the menu are a variety of wood fired pizzas including, the Blueprint, with mozzarella, marinara, parmigiano, and chili flakes; the autumnal themed Nice & Smooth, which is mission figs, jam, prosciutto, honey, goat cheese, and almonds, and the no-doubt Guns and Roses inspired Appetite for Destruction (the restaurant is after all located right next to The Paramount), topped with N’Duja, marinara, basil, and mozzarella. Then there’s the Dark Side of the Moon with smoked duck, brie cream, caramelized onions, and mozzarella.

The menu doesn’t stop at pizzas though. They also offer Wood Fired Wings with Ella’s hot sauce; Grilled Baby Pulpo (Octopus) with white bean purée, chorizo crumbs, and piquillo peppers; and a local pan-seared Branzino.

On Yelp, Lynn C., of East Northport, said she couldn’t get enough of the pizzas.

“Got the wings and "the blueprint" pizza. I want to go back and get different pizza next time,” she wrote.

Ashley H., from Brentwood, praised the service.

“Everyone was nice [and] very sweet,” she said. “Now the food, When I tell you this has become tied as my favorite restaurant I mean it. I have tried many items on the menu and it never disappoints.”
