New York State Police Report One Dead, One Injured in Southampton Jet Ski Accident

Southampton, NY - December 4, 2018 - On Monday, December 3, 2018, at approximately 5:33 pm, New York State Troopers were dispatched to a jet ski in distress in the Shinnecock Bay, Southampton, NY, off the shore of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation. 
 
The Southampton Fire Department, along with Southampton Town Bay Constables, responded to the area and retrieved one male subject from the water who was hanging onto a capsized jet ski. He was transported to Southampton Hospital for medical treatment and is expected to survive. Upon further investigation at the scene, a second male occupant of the jet ski was found unresponsive on the shore of the Shinnecock Indian Reservation. He was immediately transported to Southampton Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 
 
The NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation is continuing the investigation and anyone who may have witnessed or has information pertaining to this incident, is asked to contact the NYSP Troop L Headquarters at 631-756-3300.
