NCPD: Levittown Couple in Custody After Mother Suffers Heroin Overdose in Front of Child

Levittown, NY - December 4, 2018 - Second Squad Detectives report the arrest of a male and female for an incident that occurred on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 4:49 a.m. in Levittown.
 
According to detectives, patrol officers responded to a residence on Eden Lane for an unresponsive female that was suffering from a possible overdose of heroin. Defendant, Brian Altman, 34, was attempting to revive the female when officers arrived. Officers administered Narcan and began CPR. The defendant, Cynthia Kyro, 28, regained consciousness and was transported to an area hospital.
 
After an investigation it was determined that both defendants had their four year old child in the room with drug paraphernalia, drug residue and an exposed needle. Both defendants were arrested without further incident. The child was left in the custody of a family member.
 
Cynthia Kyro and Brian Altman are both being charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Brian Altman was arraigned on Monday, December 3, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead. Cynthia Kyro will be arraigned when medically fit.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
