Garden City, NY - December 1, 2015 - The Department of Dance at Adelphi University is proud to present Fall Dance Adelphi: Martha Graham. The program, which features acclaimed works of Graham and choreography by distinguished faculty Frank Augustyn, Orion Duckstein, and Adelheid B. Strelick, will take place from Wednesday, December 2 through Sunday, December 6 at AUPAC Olmsted Theatre, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.

Martha Graham is recognized as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and credited for innovating and revolutionizing the world of dance. Graham’s creation of a movement language that was based and focused upon the expressive capacity of the human body still inspires modern dance and choreography, deeming Graham as a timeless and influential figure in the field of dance.

Martha Graham’s revolutionary vision and artistic mastery have had a deep and lasting impact on American art and culture. The Martha Graham Dance Company has been a leader in the development of contemporary dance since its founding in 1926. Due to Adelphi University Department of Dance’s strong reputation, students have performed at The Joyce Theater as part of the Marth Graham Dance Company’s University Partner Showcase to illustrate their abilities and expand the boundaries of contemporary dance. For the past several years, Adelphi has been the only college from Long Island invited to perform at this event inspired by Graham’s legacy.
