Trio Busted for Selling Counterfeit Merchandise in Wantagh

Wantagh, NY - December 1st, 2014 - The Asset Forfeiture and Intelligence Unit report the arrests of three individuals at 10:43pm on Thursday, November 27, 2014 in Wantagh.

According to Detectives, a month long investigation ensued after Police were notified of a trademark counterfeiting business operating in Wantagh. Detectives conducted four undercover buys on November 6, November 12 and two on November 27, 2014 with the defendants at 1220 Wantagh Avenue Wantagh.

Two search warrants were issued by the Nassau County Courts and at 10:30pm were executed at 1220 Wantagh Avenue and 37 Swing Lane Levittown where a large quantity of trademark counterfeit merchandise was recovered.

Arrested were Paulo R. Barbosa, 38, and Kristy Barbosa, 36, both of Hamilton Street Harrison, New Jersey and Paula Ligotti, 39, of  Swing Lane Levittown.  Each defendant was charged with four counts of Counterfeiting 2nd Degree.  The defendants were arraigned on Friday, November 28, 2014 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
