Police: Elmont Man in Custody for Allegedly Threatening Store Employee with Gun, Resisting Arrest

East Garden City, NY - November 29, 2018 - The Third Precinct reports the arrest of an Elmont man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 3:08 pm in East Garden City.
 
According to patrol officers, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 an unknown male entered Champs Sports located at 630 Old Country Road. The male was making a purchase when he began to argue with an employee over the method of payment. The subject grabbed at his waistband and stated he had a gun. The male proceeded to leave the store. The male victim, 38, called 911 and reported the incident.
 
On Wednesday, November 28, officers continued to investigate the incident at Roosevelt Field and located Geovaunni Faucher, 25. While conducting an investigation, Faucher fled officers.  A short time later, officers attempted to arrest the defendant and a struggle ensued. Faucher was subdued and placed under arrest for the above incident.
 
An officer suffered lacerations to his left hand and both knees. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
 
Defendant Faucher is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Menacing 3rd Degree.  He will be arraigned Thursday, November 29, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
