Man Arrested After Fleeing Police & Crashing Vehicle in Oakdale

Oakdale, NY - November 29th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man after he fled police and crashed his vehicle in Oakdale today.
 
Third Precinct Officer Christopher Anskat attempted to pull over a man driving a 2013 Infinity for talking on his cell phone while driving on Sunrise Service Road in Brentwood. The man, Tyquon Gregory fled police and a short time later struck a guard rail and an 18-wheeler on eastbound Sunrise Highway in Oakdale. Gregory left his vehicle and fled on foot. He was arrested in the woods a short time later at approximately 12:15 p.m.
 
Gregory, 22, of North Bellport was charged with DWI Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, three Warrants, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
 
He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore as a precaution. Gregory will be held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 30.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
