New Horseshoe Crab Art Unveiled at Rock Point Park

Written by Lon Cohen  |  29. November 2021

A local artist created a special mural for a park in Rocky Point this fall. A colorful graphic of a horseshoe crab gliding past a sun in a pink, blue and yellow color palette newly adorns the handball court wall at Robert Miner/Rocketship Park.

The Rocky Point Rotary Club donated the funds to provide the artist with paint and materials for the artwork created by Rocky Point resident Steven Soltysik. Rocketship Park is located on Hallock Landing Road, just north of Mark Drive in Rocky Point.

At the unveiling of the mural, Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner commented on how the piece beautifies the park.

“Horseshoe crabs are a very familiar sight on our north shore beaches, so it is a fitting subject for the handball wall mural,” she said.
