Port Jeff Station, NY - November 26th, 2013 - Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. is commemorating National Mutt Day on December 2 by encouraging potential adopters to stop by the shelter and see all the wonderful dogs Save-A-Pet has available for adoption.

National Mutt Day was created to raise awareness for mixed-breed dogs in shelters around the U.S. Mutts are the largest percentage of dogs that are euthanized at many shelters around the country due to the popular demand of purebred puppies and “designer” dogs. National Mutt Day is a day for the public to recognize that mixed breeds are not just healthier and well behaved, but they are also in need of a loving home.

Chance, one of Save-A-Pet’s many mutts, is a beautiful brown-and-white, mixed breed that is house trained, up-to-date on shots, and neutered. He is young and playful, especially with children! He is perfect in every way and is in desperate need of a loving home. We hope this day proves successful for Chance. Countless mutts around the U.S. are just like Chance and are waiting to be a part of affectionate, welcoming families.

“Everybody at the shelter loves Chance. He has a fabulous personality,” says Dori Scofield, Founder/President, Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Inc. “Many mutts, similar to Chance, are just as wonderful and are in need of a caring, forever home. We hope we can raise a great deal of awareness for all of the special, mixed breed dogs on National Mutt Day.”
