The Long Island Crisis Center Celebrates #GivingTuesday on December 2nd

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  24. November 2014

Bellmore, NY - November 24th, 2014 - This year, on Tuesday, December 2nd, Long Island Crisis Center is part of a call to action that will change the calendar and help make history on Long Island. We are celebrating a day dedicated to giving: #GivingTuesday. This global movement serves as an important opportunity for charities, families, businesses and students to all come together and change the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

A response to the chaos and consumerism of "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday," #GivingTuesday isn't about buying anything - it's about joining together, making a difference in our community, and showing support to the causes that our community relies on - life-saving organizations like Long Island Crisis Center.

But, they can't do it without YOU! Please take a moment to join the movement by checking out their #GivingTuesday website. There, you can learn first-hand about our life-saving work and show your support for Long Islanders in need.

Why Make LICC Your #GivingTuesday Charity?

  • They are here for any problem, any time, anyone. Last year alone, Long Island Crisis Center was there to answer the call for nearly 10,000 individuals - children, young people, and adults who called feeling scared, or alone, or suicidal.
  • They work to support and empower LGBTQ youth. In 2013, over 8,000 young people were able to access our Pride for Youth services: our weekly Coffeehouse, support groups, HIV counseling/testing and more.
  • They rely on community support. LICC is a grassroots organization that depends heavily on the financial support of the Long Island community. It is through the donations of generous and kind people like you that we keep our crisis hotlines and specialized programs operating 24/7, 365 days a year.
