Members of the Sheriff’s Office handed out 295 Thanksgiving turkeys and complete dinner baskets.

Recently, Suffolk County Sheriff  Errol D. Toulon, Jr. and members of the Sheriff’s Office handed out 295 Thanksgiving turkeys and complete dinner baskets to local non-profit agencies for families in need as a part of their 4th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. 
 
Baskets were distributed to families working with the following organizations: The S.T.A.R.T Resource Center, Spin the Yard, Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island/ VIBES, New Hour for Women and Children, the North Shore Youth Council, William Floyd PACA Middle School, Lighthouse Mission, South Huntington School District, Boys & Girls Club of Bellport, Cops N’ Kids Long Island, and the Gordon Heights SDA Church.
 
In addition to food donations received via drop-off boxes at the Sheriff’s Office and via an Amazon.com Wish List, generous monetary and food donations were received from various local agencies. The Suffolk County Correction Officers Association and the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs Police Benevolent Association each donated $500 towards the purchase of turkeys. The Sheriff’s Office Hockey, Lacrosse, and Softball Teams collaboratively donated $1000 toward the purchase of trimmings to complete the dinners. Caitlyn’s Vision donated 50 complete meals. Pastor Kara from AXIS Church in Medford arranged for Church Unleashed in Commack to donate 50 frozen turkeys, and for Long Island Cares to donate 100 complete meals.
