Commissioner Sini Announces Stepped-Up Holiday Patrol, Offers Safety Tips for Shoppers

Suffolk County, NY - November 22, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini will hold a press conference at Police Headquarters, located at 30 Yaphank Ave. in Yaphank, on November 22 at 11:30 a.m. to announce the department’s stepped up holiday patrols as well as provide tips to help keep the public safe during the holiday shopping season.

With the rush of the holidays, people often let their usual safety precautions slack, however, this is the time of year everyone should be increasingly diligent. Commissioner Sini will offer safety tips for shoppers at both retail centers, including reminding them to lock their cars, as well as those who shop online including how to protect your personal information from being stolen. He will also provide recommendations for those who travel during the holidays to secure their homes while they are away.

Commissioner Sini will also outline the department’s stepped-up patrol enforcement efforts to focus on drivers who are violating laws pertaining to driving while intoxicated and the use of seatbelt and cellphones while driving. The department will also have officers in both uniform and plainclothes on patrol at retail centers and in downtown shopping areas.
