Serveral Suffer Serious Injuries in Cedarhurst DWI Crash, Police Report

Cedarhurst, NY - November 21, 2017 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of an Arverne man at 2:19am on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Cedarhurst.
 
According to Detectives, Police Officers responded to a 911 call to the intersection of W. Broadway and Bayview Avenue for a vehicular accident. A four door 2016 Nissan Altima color red with five occupants had struck a pole. 
 
One male victim seated in the rear of the vehicle suffered lacerations, with skull and spine fractures; a second male victim seated in the front suffered spinal fractures, both were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their injuries.  
 
The driver of the vehicle suffered a possible neck injury and was transported to a different local area hospital for treatment of his injuries. The two other occupants were unharmed. The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.
 
Detectives arrested the driver Keyon Mayweather, 20, of Arverne, NY. Defendant Mayweather is to be charged with DWI and two counts of Vehicular Assault. He will be arraigned as medically practical.    
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
