Seaford Man Busted by Nassau Police for Driving Drunk, Possession of Drugs

Farmingdale, NY - November 21, 2017 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Seaford man for Driving While Ability Impaired –Drugs that occurred on Monday, November 20, 2107 in South Farmingdale.
 
According to police, Second Precinct Officers on routine patrol observed a 2014 grey Jeep make a left hand turn onto Merrits Road. While travelling southbound on Merrits Road, the vehicle failed to maintain a lane of traffic and drove over the white pavement markings. Officers conducted a vehicle traffic stop. 
 
The driver was observed to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage from his breath. Defendant Thomas Mancinelli, 58, was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest a hypodermic syringe along with a silver spoon containing a melted blue powdery substance believed to be heroin was recovered inside of the automobile. Also recovered in the center console cup holder was a red cup half full of a beverage believed to vodka. 
 
Defendant Mancinelli is being charged with Driving While Ability Impaired – Drugs, Driving While Ability Impaired- Combined Drugs/Alcohol and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He will be arraigned on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
