Mastic Beach, NY - November 21st, 2013 - Several William Floyd High School art students and their teachers, Theresa Bianco and Susan Plunket, had the opportunity to participate in National Portfolio Day at SUNY Purchase in Purchase, NY, on November 16. National Portfolio Day is an event specifically designed for those who wish to pursue an education in the visual and related arts to meet with representatives from institutions accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

William Floyd students toured the campus of Purchase College, met with school representatives and spent some time in the Neuberger Museum of Art, the premier museum of modern, contemporary and African art in upstate New York’s Westchester and Fairfield counties. Seniors also had the opportunity to have their portfolios reviewed by representatives from some of the top art schools in the world, including the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Pratt Institute, Paris College of Art, the Rhode Island School of Design and more.

“It was a great experience for our students to see so many people in one place who share a common love and commitment to the arts,” said Theresa Bianco, William Floyd High School art teacher. “It provides our students with just a small sample of what a professional college art program looks like.”
