SCPD: Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Melville After Stuck by Elderly Motorist

Melville, NY - November 20, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Melville on Monday, November 19.
 
A man was on Route 110, approximately 150 feet north of Amityville Road, when he appeared to step into the roadway and was struck by a 2004 Honda CRV traveling northbound at approximately 7:15 p.m.
 
The man, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda, Constance Schwartz, 87, of Melville remained and the scene and faces no charges.
 
The Honda was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
