Bicyclist Killed in East Patchogue Hit-and-Run Crash, According to Officials

East Patchogue, NY - November 20, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in East Patchogue on Saturday, November 18, 2017.
 
Fifth Precinct police officers responded to Falcon Avenue, near East Lakewood Street, after a passing motorist called 911 to report a body in the roadway at approximately 6:35 p.m. Upon further investigation it was determined that the victim, William Griffin, was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
 
Griffin, 63, of East Patchogue, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
