Bethpage Man Arrested After Attempt to Rob Victim Who Just Cashed Check

Hicksville, NY - November 20, 2015 - Second Squad detectives report the arrest of a Bethpage man for a robbery that occurred in Hicksville on Thursday, 11/19/15 at 5:15 P.M.

According to detectives, Timothy Boyle, 46, of Bethpage approached a male victim, 42, who had just cashed a check in front of 37 W. John St.  The defendant punched the victim in the face while he was counting his money.  The defendant attempted to grab the victim’s cash from his hand and a struggle ensued, causing them both to fall to the ground.  A male witness, 44, who was driving by, stopped his vehicle and assisted the victim in addition to detaining the defendant on the ground until police arrival.

The victim sustained redness and discomfort to his eye but did not require medical attention.  No other injuries were reported.

Boyle is being charged with Robbery 3rd Degree and will be arraigned on Friday, 11/20/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
