MTA Long Island Rail Road Offering Extra Train Service Beginning Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve and Continuing Through the Extended Holiday Weekend

Long Island, NY - November 20, 2015 - Beginning Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 25 and continuing through the extended holiday weekend, MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing extra train service and reduced fare programs that will making travel a snap for shopping, dining and entertainment.

Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 25 – Early Eastbound Getaway

To accommodate the rush of customers getting a head start on the holiday weekend, the LIRR has added the following 11 eastbound trains from Penn Station to its regular schedule:

Ronkonkoma Branch

  • 1:52 p.m. train stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, and then all stops to Ronkonkoma (except Pinelawn.) Port Jefferson Branch
  • 2:08 p.m. train stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, and then all stops to Huntington.
  • 2:29 p.m. train stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, and then all stops to Huntington.
  • 3:24 p.m. train stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville.

Babylon Branch

  • 2:22 p.m. train express to Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon.
  • 2:32 p.m. train express to Lynbrook, then all stops to Babylon.
  • 3 p.m. train stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, and then all stops to Babylon.
  • 3:31 p.m. express to Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon

Port Washington Branch

  • 3:40 p.m. train stopping at Woodside, Flushing Main St., and then all stops to Great Neck.

Far Rockaway Branch

  • 3:48 p.m. express train to Locust Manor, then all stops to Far Rockaway.

Montauk Branch

  • 4:06 p.m. train express to Westhampton, then stopping at Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton and Montauk

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27 – Family Fare to Thanksgiving Day Parade

On Thanksgiving Day, for Long Islanders planning to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade trains will run on a Weekend/Holiday schedule with the addition of six westbound trains in the morning and 11 eastbound trains in the afternoon. Kids ages 5-11 (limit of 4 children) can ride one-way for $1 when accompanied by a fare paying parent or guardian.

Westbound – 6 Extra Trains

Babylon Branch

  • 6:49 a.m. train from Babylon, making all stops to Rockville Center, then Jamaica, and Penn Station.
  • 7:21 a.m. train from Babylon, making all stops to Rockville Centre, then Jamaica and Penn Station.

Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch

  • 6:01 a.m. train from Port Jefferson making all stops to Huntington, then stopping at Jamaica and Penn Station.

Ronkonkoma Branch

  • 6:10 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma, making all stops to Hicksville, then Jamaica, Woodside and Penn Station.
  • 7:10 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma, making all stops to Hicksville, then Jamaica, Woodside and Penn Station.

Montauk Branch

  • 6:25 a.m. train from Speonk, making all stops to Babylon, Jamaica and Penn Station.

Eastbound – 11 Extra Trains

Babylon Branch

  • 11:39 a.m., 12:09 p.m., 12:39 p.m. and 1:09 p.m. trains from Penn Station stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all local stops to Babylon. Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch
  • 11:59 p.m. from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, New Hyde Park and all stops to Huntington.
  • 12:06 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Hicksville, and then all stops to Port Jefferson.

Montauk Branch

  • 12:02 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Freeport, all stops to Speonk.

Ronkonkoma Branch

  • 11:35 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Hicksville Bethpage, Farmingdale then all stops to Ronkonkoma except Pinelawn.
  • 12:32 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, Mineola, Hicksville, Bethpage, Farmingdale, then all stops to Ronkonkoma except Pinelawn.
  • 1:03 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, and then all stops to Farmingdale.
  • 1:32 p.m. train from Penn Station, stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Hicksville, Bethpage, Farmingdale, then all stops to Ronkonkoma, except Pinelawn.

Black Friday, November 27 – Bargains Begin with Off-Peak Fares

On Black Friday, November 27, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, the LIRR will run on a regular Weekday Schedule, but tickets will be sold at the lower, off-peak fares.

Saturday, November 28 & Sunday, November 29 – Off-Peak Fares in Effect

The LIRR will add four westbound trains and six eastbound trains to its regular weekend schedule on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30. Remember, weekend fares are always off-peak.

Westbound – Four Extra Trains

Long Beach Branch

  • 8:57 a.m., 9:57 a.m., 10:57 a.m. and 11:57 a.m. trains from Long Beach making all local stops to Jamaica then express to Penn Station.

Eastbound Six Extra Trains

Long Beach Branch

  • 4:25 PM, 5:25 PM, 6:25 PM and 7:25 PM trains from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica and making all local stops to Long Beach.

Babylon Branch

  • 1:13 AM from Penn Station, stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre and then all stops to Babylon

Huntington/Port Jefferson

  • 2:44 AM from Penn Station stopping at Jamaica, New Hyde Park, and then all stops to Huntington.
