John S. Hobart Students “Gobble Up” Donations for Food Pantry

Written by WFSD News  |  20. November 2015

Shirley, NY - November 19, 2015 - Halloween may be over, but members of the John S. Hobart Student Council continue to trick or treat. However, instead of asking for candy, they are asking their neighbors to donate non-perishable food items for the St. Jude’s Pantry to help the less fortunate this holiday season. With each knock, they said, “No tricks, just treats food drive. Please donate a canned or boxed item to the local food pantry.”

So far the students collected more than 930 cans, boxes and bags of food and plan on heading out one more time before Thanksgiving. “They walked many blocks over several hours and were so enthusiastic and willing to give of their time for people in need in their community,” said Ms. Ryan. “They even picked up trash along the way.”

The participating students were Dora Lentini, Connor Langdon, Hunter Rosario, Aleeza Aria, Aiden Mehmel, Jennifer Chacon-Reyes, Zahra Latif and Jasmine Rios. A special thanks to sibling and parent volunteers, as well as the community for the generous donations.
