Farmingdale High School Students Are Making Music
Farmingdale, NY - November 16, 2017 - Farmingdale High School String and Symphony Orchestra students recently enjoyed a private concert with renowned musicians and instructors Dr. Shelly Tramposh and Dr. Marie-Elaine Gagnon from State University of New York (SUNY) Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. Tramposh and Gagnon performed a solo and duet repertoire of songs ranging from Baroque music to three different styles of Irish fiddling.
Following the concert, the guest teachers collaborated with students during an orchestra rehearsal, helping them hone and perfect their musical skills. Students learned about what it takes to start a career in music and gained a professional perspective on performing.
This event comes on the heels of the Farmingdale School District’s recent musical successes, in which nine students from the Symphony Orchestra were accepted into the Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) and seven students were accepted into the Div. IV and V All-County Music Festivals. LISFA will take place this month and the All-County festivals will take place in January 2018.
