NCPD: Narcotics Arrest in Hempstead

Hemptsead, NY - November 15, 2013 - The Narcotics/Vice Bureau in conjunction with the Special Victims Squad reports the Arrest of a Hempstead man that occurred in Mineola on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 9:55 AM.
 
According to detectives, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 the defendant, Ramone Smith, 23, of 10 Washington Street Apt 3G contacted a 31 year old female via the Internet and had her respond to his residence. Smith then escorted the victim to the roof where he displayed a razor knife and sexually assaulted the female. He was located at his residence and taken into custody on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9:50 pm. He was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault, Criminal Sexual Act 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on September 4, 2013.
 
Sometime during August of 2013 a 19 year old female victim was contacted by Smith via the Internet and arrangements were made for the victim to travel to the defendant’s residence. The defendant and victim got into an elevator and Smith demanded the victim surrender lingerie she had in her possession. The victim complied and the defendant began to touch her in a sexual manner. Smith displayed a razor knife and a struggle ensued. The victim was able to gain control of the knife and fled after the elevator doors opened.
 
Sometime during August and September of 2013 a 19 year old female victim was contacted by the defendant via the Internet and the victim responded to the defendant’s home. Smith led the female to the roof of the building where he displayed a box cutter and sexually assaulted her.
 
After an investigation Smith was taken into custody at 252 Old Country Road where he was appearing in court in relation to his September 4, 2013 arrest. He was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault, Rape 1st Degree, Criminal Sexual Act 1st Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Sexual Abuse 1st Degree, two counts  of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree.
