New Hyde Park, NY - November 14, 2018 - Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) partnered with Notre Dame School in New Hyde Park to honor local veterans through a new project based off of President George W. Bush’s book Portraits of Courage. He hosted a reception to highlight the success of the project, which is currently on display at the Community Gallery of Long Island Children’s Museum.

“I was overwhelmed by the final results – the portraits and, more importantly, the connections made between the students and veterans were life changing,” said Ra. “I highly recommend the public to visit the Children’s Museums to see the portraits and learn more about the sacrifice and courage of so many local veterans here in our community.”

The project matched local veterans with seventh and eighth grade students, who made a portrait and short biography of the veterans.
