Man With Serious Head Injuries Found in Roadway

Dix Hills, NY - November 13, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances in which a bicyclist was found lying on the road seriously injured in Dix Hills this afternoon.

A motorist was travelling southbound on Carlls Straight Path, near Villadom Court, when she observed a man lying in the roadway at approximately 1:20 p.m.   There was a bicycle next to the victim who was semi-conscious and had an apparent head injury.
 
The victim, Paul Rovelli, 69, of 21 Greenmeadow Court, Deer Park, apparently had been riding a bicycle and was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.  He was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. Due to the nature of his injuries, Rovelli has been unable to provide detectives with any information regarding the incident.  
 
The bicycle was impounded and the investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Second Squad detectives at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
