Freeport Man Arrested by Nassau Authorities for Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Merrick, NY - November 13, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Freeport man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Sunday November 12, 2017 at 8:50 PM in Merrick.
 
According to Narcotics Vice Squad detectives who were conducting an investigation in the Merrick area, came upon defendant, Alvin Brooks, 32. Defendant Brooks was observed to have a black handle handgun in his waistband. Detectives recovered a loaded Hi-Point 9MM handgun. Defendant was then placed under arrest.
 
Defendant Alvin Brooks is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Monday November 13, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
