Nassau County PD: Fatal Hempstead Car Accident Under Investigation

Hempstead, NY - November 13th, 2013 - Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a Serious Auto Accident involving an unidentified pedestrian that occurred on November 13, 2013 at 4:18 am in Hempstead.

According to detectives, while operating a taxi southbound on N. Franklin Street near Orchard Street, the 69 year old male driver was confronted by a male Hispanic who was running across N. Franklin Street from west to east and had a collision with the front passenger side of the taxicab.

As a result of the accident he suffered head trauma and was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

The unidentified Hispanic male, is described as being about 5’8” tall with a thin build and short dark hair. He was wearing a blue “Bubble” jacket, a collared shirt with blue and yellow stripes, light brown pants and brown work boots.

The taxi underwent brake and safety checks at the scene and was released back to the driver.

There is no apparent criminality involved in this accident.
