SCPD Investigating North Bellport Shooting, Victim Shot Several Times

North Bellport, NY - November 12, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in North Bellport early this morning.

Walter Harris was walking northbound in the vicinity of Taylor Avenue and Louise Avenue at approximately 12:40 a.m. when a dark-colored sedan with several people inside pulled up next to him. One man exited the vehicle and fired several shots from a handgun at Harris, striking him three times in his upper torso. The unidentified suspect and the vehicle fled the scene.

Harris, 53, of Bellport was transported via ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
