Construction Contractor Killed in Huntington Station

Huntington Station, NY - November 11, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Huntington construction contractor this afternoon.

Julian Castellanos was at 1 Crabapple Court in Huntington Station where he was hired to build an outside entrance for a basement apartment.  Castellanos had previously built two retaining walls and was in the process of building steps when one of the walls collapsed, crushing him to death at approximately 12:05 p.m.

Castellanos, 47, of Lebkamp Ave., Huntington, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician’s assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Two other construction workers who were at the residence at the time of the incident were not injured.

The investigation is continuing.  The Town of Huntington Fire Marshal and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were notified.
