Rosedale Man Drove Drunk with Children Aged 1 and 3 in Vehicle, Cops Say

Bernard Brown, 56, was pulled over after he was observed by police in Hempstead performing two illegal U-turns, impeding traffic and other violations of traffic laws.

Hempstead, NY - November 9, 2017 - The Nassau County Police Department reports a DWI Leandra’s Law arrest that occurred at 9:48pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in Hempstead.
 
Hempstead Police first observed defendant Bernard Brown, 56, of Rosedale operating a Honda Civic on Terrace Avenue where he performed two illegal U-turns, impeded traffic and violated other Vehicle and Traffic laws. Officers were able to stop the defendant vehicle at Jackson Street and N. Franklin Street and subsequent to the investigation he was placed under arrest without incident.  
 
The defendant was operating the vehicle with three passengers; two females ages 1 and 3 years were in the back seat. The vehicle and two minors were released into the custody of the female adult passenger.  
 
Defendant Brown is charged with two counts of DWI Leandra’s Law, DWI, two counts of Unlicensed Operation, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and multiple VTL violations. He will be arraigned on Thursday, November 09, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
