Man Arrested for Endangering the Welfare of His Two Children, Ages 2 and 6, at Seaford Cinema

Seaford, NY - November 9, 2016 - The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Seaford man for Endangering the Welfare of a Child which occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 10:23 am in Seaford.

According to detectives, Seventh Precinct officers responded to the Seaford Cinemas located at 3951 Merrick Road for an unresponsive male with his two children, 2 and 6 years old.  An off duty Nassau County officer observed defendant Nicholas Anastasio, 36 of Seaford, sweating profusely and then pass out.  The officer retrieved Narcan from his vehicle and administered with no response.  When Seventh Precinct officers and an Ambulance Supervisor arrived they administered Narcan and the defendant became responsive.  Anastasio was transported to a local hospital by Seaford Fire Department ambulance.  An investigation revealed that the defendant inhaled the opioid Fentanyl and he was placed under arrest.  The children were released to a family member.

Anastasio was charged with 2 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.  He will be arraigned on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
