Report: Latin Kings Gang Member Injures NCPD Officers While Resisting Arrest

Westbury, NY - November 8, 2018 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Freeport man for an Assault that occurred on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:36 p.m. in Westbury.
 
According to detectives, Juan Taveras Jr., 33, was involved in a disturbance located at 880 Old Country Road, the Speedway Gas Station. Officers responded and conducted an investigation. While attempting to place Taveras Jr. under arrest, the subject resisted and fought with the officers. The subject was eventually subdued and handcuffed. The officers suffered injuries and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. The subject was also transported to an area hospital for treatment.
 
The subject is a known Latin Kings gang member.
 
Juan Taveras is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, November 08, 2018 in First District Court in Hempstead.
