Nassau County PD: Great Neck Man Arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer

Great Neck, NY - November 7th, 2013 - The Third Squad reports an arrest for Impersonating a Police Officer which occurred on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 4:45 P.M. in Great Neck.

According to detectives, a female victim, 43, while driving on Grace Avenue near Gilchrest Avenue began hearing honking and noticed she was being tailgated by a dark colored vehicle.  The victim pulled to the side on Stoner Avenue at which time the suspects car cut in front of her blocking her ability to pull away.  The male occupant of the car exited the vehicle, approached her, produced a police mini shield and identified himself as a Police Officer.  He claimed the victim committed several Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations.  The suspect was seen entering 40 Stoner Avenue where he was later identified as Steven Kleinman, 58, of 125 Hempstead Gardens, Apt Q2B, West Hempstead.  He was placed under arrest without incident.  No injuries were reported.

Kleinman is charged with Criminal Impersonation 1st degree and will be arraigned on Thursday, November 07, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
