Police: Man Scams Woman by Deflating Her Tire, Then Snatching Purse While Helping to Fix It

Miller Place, NY - November 6, 2018 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole a pocketbook containing cash in Miller Place last month. 
 
While a woman was in a coffee shop, a man let the air out of her car’s tire in the parking lot of a shopping center located at 385 Route 25A on October 2, at approximately 11:40 a.m. When the woman returned to her car, the man offered to help fix the tire. When the woman unlocked the car door, the man, without her knowledge, took her pocketbook containing cash and fled in a white SUV. 
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
