The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation Awards Grant of Laptop Computers For Upcoming Career Readiness Program

Uniondale, NY - November 6, 2015 - The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation will  provide a Career Readiness Training Program for Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporations' (CBEDC) Adult Literacy/High School Equivalency program students.

The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, based out of Uniondale, New York, partnered with the CBEDC this past October and awarded their career readiness program with a Technology Grant of 20 laptop computers to support the upcoming initiative.

Mrs. Altanya Gerald-Burgess, Chief Operation Officer, said, “Our Foundation is extremely excited about our partnership with the CBEDC. My husband, Keith H. Burgess and I saw the value in this program and felt it was necessary to award the CBEDC with our technology grant to assist with the expansion their current Adult Literacy/High School Equivalency classes.”

Mrs. LaShawn Allen-Muhammad, newly appointed Executive Director of the CBEDC, stated, “The CBEDC is looking to expand our program to include a Bridge to College/Career Pathway program.” Mrs. Allen-Muhammad also stated, “In addition to partnering with the Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation, the CBEDC is in pursuit of partnering with Medgar Evers College - Office of Continuing Education and Pipeline Program to achieve this goal. This school year, our goal is to serve is about 68 participants.”

The CBEDC plans to develop a contextualized curriculum and integrated learning modules with The Dollicia F. Holloway Memorial Foundation and Medgar Evers Community College to provide concrete learning opportunities leading to higher education outcomes and employment.

About The Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation
The Central Brooklyn Economic Development Corporation(CBEDC) provides Adult Basic Literacy and High School Equivalency classes for community residents that reside within Community District 16 in Brooklyn.  Afternoon and evening classes commenced in September and will conclude in May 2016.
