Man Killed in North Bellport Shooting, SCPD Investigating

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man who was killed in a North Bellport shooting early this morning.

North Bellport, NY - November 5, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man who was killed in a North Bellport shooting early this morning.

Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Bellport Avenue at 12:54 a.m. When they arrived, the officers discovered Robert Burks, 52, lying in front of 527 Bellport Avenue. Burks, of North Bellport, had been shot and killed by an unknown suspect.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
