Bellmore, NY - November 4, 2016 - “Family & Friends Healing Together” is a new support group and space for those who have lost a loved one to suicide.  The first meeting will take place on Monday, November 21st at 7:00 p.m. at the Crisis Center’s offices located at 2740 Martin Ave., Bellmore NY.  Subsequent meetings will be held on the third Monday of each month.

“With suicide rates increasing across all demographics, we know that many people in our Long Island community are grappling with their grief and ‘how to go on’ when they lose a loved one to suicide,” states Pete Carney, LCSW, who will be facilitating the support group.  “At our Suicide Awareness Walk held in September, we introduced our Wall of Remembrance where people could display photos, letters or other memorabilia of their loved ones lost to suicide.  We saw how important this gesture was to them and the need they had to remember, to talk and to validate their feelings.  This support group will give them the opportunity.”

The support group is provided at no cost and all are welcome – no rsvp is required.  For those who have questions or would like additional information, please contact Pete Carney at 516-679-9000 or email.
