SCPD: Pedestrian Killed in Lindenhurst Motor Vehicle Crash

Lindenhurst, NY - November 3, 2017 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian in Lindenhurst on Thursday, November 2, 2017.
Maureen McCloskey was crossing Montauk Highway from south to north, near Wellwood Avenue, when she was struck by a Suffolk Transportation bus traveling westbound at 8:08 p.m.
McCloskey, 64, of West Babylon, was transported by the Lindenhurst Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the bus, Michael Devine, 60, of North Babylon, stayed at the scene and was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
