Long Island, NY - November 2, 2017 - Senator John Brooks met October 31st with EAC Network President & CEO Lance W. Elder and Carol O’Neill, LMSW, Senior Director of EAC Network’s Senior & Nutrition Services, to plan initiatives for constituents’ services. Senator Brooks and EAC Network share many goals to improve the lives of Long Island residents, including food insecurity and hunger alleviation; senior citizens’ quality of life concerns; and substance addiction prevention and treatment.

Additionally, Senator Brooks and EAC Network share concerns about funding cuts to programs that support some of the most vulnerable citizens among us, including Long Island’s senior citizens. Nassau County has nearly 300,000 senior citizens, with the majority 85 years or older, with the fastest growing segment at 100-plus years old.

Senator Brooks and EAC Network plan to work on programs including public education presentations on nutrition and healthy aging as well as ‘Meals on Wheels’ and the ‘Adopt a Grandparent’ initiative to encourage intergenerational contact and support.

Senator Brooks is the New York State Senator for the 8th District, representing portions of Nassau and Suffolk Counties along the South Shore of Long Island.
