Farmingdale, NY - November 2, 2017 - The Farmingdale School District’s Farmingdale High School automotive students were recently visited by driver Kyle Soper and his FDNY NASCAR as part of a district initiative to connect classroom material to the real world. Soper spent the morning talking to the students and staff at Farmingdale High School. He discussed his experience as a NASCAR driver, and shared the lessons he has learned about what it takes to succeed in the industry. Students engaged in questions and answers with Soper, excitedly discussing their knowledge and love of cars.

This event was coordinated by Paul Defendini, Assistant Superintendent of Farmingdale Schools, and Mark Knight, owner of Draf10 Motorsports, Inc. Mr. Knight spoke with the students about the math and science behind the technology used in race car manufacturing and driving to help students develop a love of STEM subjects.
