Nassau County PD: Queens Man Arrested for Garden City Robbery
Garden City, NY - November 2nd, 2013 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man for a Robbery that occurred on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:40 a.m. in Garden City.
According to detectives, the female victim, 55 years of age, arrived at her Pell Terrace home and discovered an unknown vehicle in her driveway. As the victim approached her home she discovered her front door open and observed the defendant Robert E. Washington, 50 of 110-10 200th Street, St. Albans exiting with a pillow case containing the victim’s jewelry. When the victim confronted the defendant he threatened to shoot her. No weapon was seen. Washington fled in the vehicle with the proceeds. During the investigation Third Squad detectives discovered physical evidence at the scene which led to the arrest of Washington on Friday, November 1 2013 at a hotel in Queens. At the time of the arrest the defendant was in possession of a clear plastic bag of marijuana. The jewelry has not been recovered at this time.
Washington is charged with Robbery 1st degree, Burglary 1st degree, Grand Larceny 3rd degree, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He will be arraigned on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
