Police: Human Remains Found in Lake Grove Home on Halloween

Lake Grove, NY - November 1, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating human remains discovered in a home in Lake Grove on Wednesday, October 31.
 
Michael Carroll, 57, and his two adult sons were excavating Michael’s basement at a residence on Olive St. when the sons discovered what appeared to be human remains at approximately 2 p.m. The family called 911 and Homicide detectives investigated.
 
Investigation revealed Michael’s parents George and Dorothy Carroll owned the home in 1957. Michael and his three siblings lived in the house with their parents. George has been missing since 1961, and Dorothy died in the late 90s. Michael is the current homeowner.
 
The remains were taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner to be examined by an anthropologist.
 
Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
