Cold Spring Harbor, NY - November 1, 2018 - Huntington Town Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci, Senator John J. Flanagan and Senator Carl L. Marcellino announced over $11 million dollars in State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant funding approved for parking infrastructure improvements at Cold Spring Harbor LIRR Train Station and Huntington LIRR Train Station, in the parking lot of the Cold Spring Harbor Station on Friday, October 26.

"Thank you to Senator Marcellino and Senator Flanagan for securing over $11 million dollars in major and necessary infrastructure improvements to the parking facilities at the Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington train stations," said Supervisor Lupinacci. "This unprecedented return of the tax dollars we pay to New York State to be invested back into our community -- thank you again, Senator Marcellino and Senator Flanagan, for your amazing work on behalf of Huntington residents and commuters."

Senator Carl L. Marcellino secured $7.35 million dollars of SAM Grant funding for a new 150-stall parking structure at the Cold Spring Harbor LIRR Train Station.

“Mass transit is vital to the day to day operation of the greater Huntington community.  Safe, reliable trains are a big part of that equation. Yet, what often goes unlooked and under appreciated is adequate parking and station amenities.  Passengers deserve to have clean and well equipped stations and it does no one any good to be on time at the station, only to circle round and round searching for a spot to safely leave your vehicle. These funds will provide much needed improvements at both the Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor stations and make every LIRR riders’ life a little easier,” said Senator Marcellino.

“It is so important that we continue to make the improvements to our transportation facilities that our commuters need and deserve. Senator Marcellino understands that and I thank him for working with me to secure this state funding on behalf of commuters to make their travel a little better every day. I also thank Supervisor Lupinacci for his work in identifying which projects need the funding and for coordinating this project,” stated Senator Flanagan.

Senator John J. Flanagan secured an additional $4 million dollars of SAM Grant funding for parking facilities improvements at the Huntington LIRR Train Station, consisting of north and south parking lot renovations, elevator replacement in the north parking garage, structural concrete repairs for the east foot bridge to the north parking garage.
